I can see one possible drawback in changing the rear end ratio. Coming out of
Palo Duro
Canyon with my 82 FC (10% grade as I recall), was quite a pull. 1st gear the
whole way and
down to about 1850rpms. With a higher gear ratio (I think I have the 5.29) that
pull might
have become touch and go.
