Progress on "El Soñador" (The Dreamer)
Congrats on the Bird! The battery box is also on my list. But down
the list a ways... If it's in good enough condition I may have it
blasted and powder coated. I've had great success with powder
coating on motorcycle frames and a variety of things.... and it's
affordable. The chrome needs work so I may even consider the
bumpers?

fabricated and installed a new battery box. I used 3/16 steel plate
with a piece of 3/4 black pipe, that I bought at Home Cheapo, on the
outer edge. It adds support, plus due to the fact that you can still
see the battery box, with the door closed, adds a nice little roll to
the outer edge. I sprayed it with Primer sealer then 3M Rocker Shultz
undercoated it , then lined it with some rolled rubber roofing
material, (all things I had on hand). I think another good idea would
be to line it with some JB weld that would be a cheap and efficent
way to make a barrier between the metal and the battery acid. I
installed a new muffler ($67.00 available at Fleetpride nationwide)
and a chrome 5" tailpipe, that I had kicking around. I also started
buffing out the paint and I used brown shoe polish on the brown vinyl
stripe Works great. that was another great tip I learned from a post
in here, in this forum. Good luck!
