John,
As I stated earlier you can take the portable PT50C over to the electric receptacle outlet and check the condition of the current and outlet before pulling in the site. You don't have to pull into the site get out you cord plug it in go back in the coach and check the hard wired monitor. Also the Portable comes with a lockable strap so the monitor is secured to the post. To each his own.
