3208 with a single thermostat
Many thanks to Mike for his great 3208 knowledge.
The engine in the 300hp, FC seems to set back about 4 inches to accomodate the air to air cooler. This makes the space on the right side really tight. I crowled into the doghouse and there were the bolt/nuts behind the accessory plate. They were easy pickens with a needle nose vise grip pliers. Mike said "two man job", so Patty helped with that extra pair of hands. There were two holes for the thermostats, But there was also a plate another gasket and the SINGLE thermostat housing. Thanks again to Mike he really knows these 3208's Bill, who likes being in the Doghouse, 88 FC Michigan --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Mike Hohnstein" <MHOHNSTEIN@w...> wrote: > There are two thermostats, and two nuts behind the accessory plate that need to be secured to remove the thermostat housing. There are two gaskets that need to be renewed at the time the housing is R&Rd. Do not use silicone sealer on these components. Make sure the coolant PH is correct. The kits for checking are available from Napa or any truck supply house. Make sure the engine is well grounded, electrically speaking. That's important. > Mike Hohnstein > Germantown, WI > 83FC35 > ----- Original Message ----- > From: pattypape > To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Thursday, April 28, 2005 8:33 PM > Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] 3208 with a single thermostat > > > Hi All, > > Well, I worked on the hoses and cooling system today and visited the > local Cat dealer. > > I am having severe concerns and hesitation, about changing the > Thermostat. > The Cat shop had several exploded drawings and all were different > than my 88FC. > They were surprised to find a drawing of a single thermostat , They > said " most all 3208's have two thermostats."
