Free over nights
Here's one that was new to me . . .

I had a visitor yesterday who looked our bus over and asked: "Did I
know about the billboard trick?" Well, I didn't. Turns out that
every billboard with lights and regular maintenance has power, water,
and a place to park. He had owned an old Superior and parked under
billboards all over the west. He said it never attracted any
attention because locals are used to seeing various rigs parked under
billboards all the time.

I haven't tried this, but will be looking at billboards with a new
perspcective next time we are on the road. Things may have tightened
up since he was doing this, but sometimes it is "any port in a storm".

PARKING for the night. Yes there are a lot of businesses that
actually go after the RV parking in subtle ways. ie. wal-mart,
cabellas, cracker barrell, etc. etc. etc. It's the very few that camp
out at these lots that make it bad. If you put it to most folks that
its just to catch some rest as you don't feel safe driving without
it. Who is gonna say you can't. Surely not the law enforcement. I
don't think they want someone ready to fall asleep and wreck on the
road, especially thier roads. Big difference between parking and
camping. Just use courtesy and if at all possible they will say "no
problem & have a safe nap".
