My first flood
A wet/dry shop vac or a carpet shampoo vac (rented from a supermarket
or hardware store) will extract most of the water so the carpet can
dry out without mildewing. Try to get a smaller model with a hand-
wand for easy handling.

You probably don't want to pull up the carpet, as you'll have a lot
of trouble tacking it back down, unless you're experienced at carpet
laying.
