Ernie,
It's a DOT thing. DOT didn't want some road debris to knock the valve stem off and cause an instant flat and possibly turn a truck over. I have been just behind an 18 wheeler that blew a rear tire and the trailer started to sway...scary to watch. That said, I turned mine around to be able to put the Crossfires on.
