Hot Water Tank Dry Switch
Bill,

The sensor on my '84FC is just a screw threaded into a plastic
insulator in the center of a pipe plug mounted into a "T" on the hot
water outlet of the water heater. My wire is also disconnected and
grounded. When changing my water heater, I found the pipe plug was
full of crap that may have prevented the wire from grounding.

how the "Hot water tank dry switch" works. I cannot find my sensor,
and the orange wire which should go to the sensor is grounded, which
allows the relay to disengage.

would have to be right next tothe tank so it can be grounded as
well, either that, or ground the fitting.
