I want to pass along information I am receiving from Teleflex, Bluebird and
other suppliers I e-mailed over the weekend. Oil Temperature gauge 54438
Bluebird part number 3865334 shows to be in stock at Bluebird today. I will see
if the indexing is the same when I receive it. According to Teleflex this and
other Teleflex gauges Bluebird used are no longer in production and are no
longer available if Bluebird does not have inventory. I am replacing 3 flakey
gauges now while they are available.
Steve Birtles and I are searching for an instrument shop to rebuild the
original gauges. I would like to keep my bird dash looking original. In the long
term that may be difficult to do.

Yep, that is the correct gage, Teleflex # 9153278.

The BB# 54438 was still a good number, But
they shipped the updated 9153278 gage , Then the temp would read
really high, That is why there is a lot of confusion , when
replacing gages, the sensor must be replaced also.
I like the new scale for the oil temp,200 to 230
Not so good for the rear axle because, it only heats up to about
140 to 170. lowest part of the gage.

was reading 40% high. I called Teleflex spoke to Joe Federsal (great

improved in that it first register point is at 140 rather than 100,
