Battery's
Dan,

When I replaced my Trojan's last year I went to their web site and
located the distribution centers in the area. Although there was one
located in Atlanta which was closer, I found a provider in Macon and
simply stopped by on my way to RITV. I did look into AGM's and Gel
cell but for my use and considering that I had gotten 7 years out of
my previous batteries I decided to stick with the Trojan T-125 which I
felt was the best value for me. Obviously everyone has their
preferances but for my 'bird I am satisfied with my decision.
When I hear the arguement against lead acid batteries due to the
maintenance and mess, I go by my own experiences with lead acid. I
think that adding water and the mess associated with lead acid
batteries is mostly determined by the design of the charging system.
I use one of the microprocessor controlled chargers (TrueCharge) and
have found over the years that because it is microprocessor
controlled, I rarely have to add water and do not have near the
venting mess that I had when using the old batter boilers. I still
concede that the AGM's and gel cells are a better technology, for my
use (and money) the lead acid is just fine....

Hope this helps,

John
