Ron On mine power tech gen the valve is to drain the coolant from the block. Also very time I drain the coolant from the gen and refill it takes a few times of adding coolant to remove all the air from the radiator Bob Loomas 1985 PT 36 Pete Masterson, Ok, here is what has happened. Numero Uno, I think the problem with the shut down is fixed. Don't know exactly what did it but it is running now and has not shut down in about 30 mins. Before it would shutdown in about 5 to 10 minutes. Here is what I did. I opened up the upper petcock on the coolant system and added a gallon of anti-freeze until it spurted out of the petcock. I closed the petcock off and replaced the Pressure cap and started the generator. It stopped after 5 to 10 minutes. Same ol problem. Next thing I did after that shut down is I turned the load breaker off which also removes the power to the radiator cooling fan. I started the generator again and it still shut off after 5 to 10 minutes. Next I looked all over the engine for anything I thought might have something to do with the fuel or coolant system. I found a valve under neath the injector pump and I opened it up, out spewed what looked like anti-freeze. It had that slight greenish color. I have seen diesel that color too though, Anyway there was only maybe a table spoon that came out and I closed the valve. Not finding anything else I decided to start the enging. Well guess what? It ran and did not shut down. Now question is, what did I do that made it run. Now I only ran it about 30 mins and it never shut down. Don't know what it will do when it has run several hours. But it appears that the problem is fixed. I am going to go to Louisiana to visit my brother in a short while that will be a good test. Its about 4 hours over there and 4 hours back. But I think it is going to be ok. Anyone have any idea what that valve is below the injector pump on that Power Tech Kubota 4 cylinder 1681cc is? Check my album on the Yahoo group and there is a picture there of the valve I am talking about. Ron Thompson Waller, Tx. 1995 42' BB [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
