Trip to PA
Larry,
For your information and others: Sounds like you MAY be slightly high. I just ran the I-77 route this week from Florida to Erie, Pa area with an 87FC35 turbo 300. Going up the 6%-7% grades (that one that is 7 miles long is a killer), I ran max oil temps of 220 on the long climbs with water temps going up to 200 Max (just over 200 the fan kicked in) then the fan quickly brought the water to 170. The oil temperature reduction takes several minutes after the water temp drops. That was always the scenario and probably normal. The fan ran constantly on only the real long grades. Pyro was at 900 on the long grades, never over 900. Usually went up to 700 on shorter grades. Most of my driving the water was at 170 with oil at 190 ( 65mph and 2300 RPM ). By the way, on most grades I was able to keep at least 45mph with only the 7 miler knocking me slightly below 40. I'm using Rotella 10-30 and change VERY often. Don Mohney 87FC35 Jensen Beach > |
