Positively Riveting!
Today's project was the replacement of a number of rivets holding bay door
frames. I had a couple of frames that were fully loose on one side or the other, and a couple of others that I could rattle pretty good. I ended up doing both sides of one door, and the left side of two others. I chose white-painted rivets rather than plain, on the grounds that they will take touch-up painting better. It looks like several rivets have been replaced in the past; is this common? I suspect that the flexing slowly destroys the aluminum pop rivets, unlike the structural steel rivets.
