Algae and dirty fuel cleaning
Because of the recent issues I've had with algae in the fuel, rigged
up a filter, pump and return hose. Went to farm supply store, bought a filter like those used on a farm fuel barrel. Aluminum base and clear bowl. Liquid transfer pump is from Sears. Disconnected fuel line at Racor "IN". Connected fuel line from tank to transfer pump, then pump to filter, then hose back up to fuel fill. Let pump run about 4 hours today. Filter did not get measurable dirty. The tank needs to agitated somehow to get the gook floating around. Tried to poke the rturn hose down in the tank but there is a coil springy thing that is placed in the filler neck to hold the chain that holds the fuel fill cap. May need to get 4 or 5 ft of 1/4" copper tubing as it would fit between the coils...then introduce air to line to agitage the tank of fuel.... Jay Darst 85PT40 Springfield, IL |
