Engine Thermostat - Detroit 6V92
Hi Bill,

There are two on the 6V92 and the kits are available at
DD/Allison's parts counter. Make sure that you get new gasket kit too.
Since you are draining upper part of the system- have the DD shop make
you some new silicone hoses for the upper radiator pipe and the
crossover pipe. There are drains on the two bowls. The large
cross-pipe and pipe to the top of the radiator will have to drain
through the bowls. A funnel and vacuum hose worked great for me- I
drained the anti-freeze through a coffee filter in a small funnel, put
a hose on the end of the funnel and put the anti-freeze in a clean
5-gallon bucket. I checked the pH and nitrates and re-used it. I
reduced my thermostats to 170 degrees and have had no problems since
2005 running a little cooler.
