oil type for 8v 92

I don't want to start the classic controversey about straight weight vs
multiweight in DD engines. However my wife and I lived on a boat for eight years
prior to the Bluebird adventure and it was powered by twin 8V53 naturals. In
my documentation for the boat I had a bulletin from Detroit Diesel authorizing
the use of 15w40 oil. I used Shell Rotella 15w40 for 8 years in the boat
with no ill effects and have been using it in the coach(8v92TA) since we
purchased it. Your correct about slinging oil. We have put about 10,000 miles
on the
coach since last May and oil consumption has been about 1 quart per thousand
