tire questions....
Hi group
Have spent some hours the last few days talking to tire shops. Les Schwab and Commercial Tire Have 6 good toyos (only a couple years and less old) but they are rated G. I've known since last year I needed to replace the steer tires with a heavier rated tire. The duals I plan to run out some time on.... Michelin 12 R 22.5 ZX2 had been recommended but have been out of stock each time I inquire. All the 11 r 22.5 seem to be underrated, the highest at 13200...still not enough to have much leeway. Today talking with commercial about a Yokohama 12 R 22.5 for a good rating. My question is - there is + .5 difference in the overall height of the tire, compared to what I am currently running (11R 22.5 Toyo) -will this difference in pitch cause a problem with the driveline (vibration, possible damage??). Wouldn't be an issue I reckon if I were replacing all 6 tires but that isn't happening..... Not looking for cheap, looking for right and safe, after this bird experiencing 3 steer blowouts in the heat the past few years...the last with me at the wheel. We've been lucky to have kept it on the blacktop upright and no other vehicles got involved. Equal to use or not to use, that is another question..... Thanks Rose Mary 82 FC 35 JP's White Bird |
