Choice of all-electric and home-style refrigerator in a BB is
probably not economic (money saving in manufacture) but is probably a convenience issue. My '95 has a cap for the ground level genny exhaust, when screwed on, the generator fumes are directed out through a roof-top exhaust pipe. There is no 'switching' involved other than plugging the lower exhaust pipe outlet. Exhaust gasses apparently prefer the path of least resistance.
