Starting a 3208 in cold weather...
Hello Everyone,
I just bought myself a cold weather thermal jump suit to keep working on my bird through the winter. Looks like it is going to be a cold one. Have a question for you all... I'm the guy who had the motor on his 83' FC-35 pulled and worked on in Reno, NV last summer. Well, I have since realized that when they put it back together, they failed to replace some parts... My bird had a small electric water pump that appeared to re-circulate coolant through the engine. I figure that was used to keep the engine warm for cold weather starting. It is no longer on my coach - the Reno mechanic replaced it with a straight hose. This will be my first winter with my bird on the road. Should I go ahead and replace this electric pump, or is there a better alternative to heat the engine before starting it? To be honest, I don't even know how that pump was turned on. Guess I still have much to learn. At what temperature do you need to start pre-heating a 3208? Any advice would be a great help! I've been very busy and off the list for a while. Happy Holidays everyone! Andy Coleman 83' FC-35 Spring Lake Heights, NJ |
