batteries in place of generator

Well, if I were worried about resale, I suppose I could hang onto the
generator and stick it back in someday. But considering my "new" bird is 30
years old now and I plan on keeping it for quite a long time, I don't know
if resale will ever become an issue... We will have to see what the market
for 50 year old birds looks like at some point
