Fuel Pump Leak - 12.5 K Perkins Generator
Hi Andy,
Is the pump that is leaking the injector pump on the perkins??? If so I have had the same thing happen to me in October of last year... You do not need a new pump, you just have to take it off and ship it to a rebuilder, like Superior Diesel in SC... That is where I had mine repaired, it only cost $400 + shipping... John Finn had his done there also... They were very good... I had a problem with mine when I replaced after getting it back from them, it would not pump fuel... I was heading to Florida for a trip to Key West and did not need the genny so I went to their shop to see what was wrong with the pump... They worked on it for an hour, had to take it off and see what was wrong... Well it turned out to be that when I removed the pump to ship it to them I did not know about the shaft that was in side the housing that runs the pump and I had lost it, luckily they had an extra one in the shop... Put it in, bled it and started right up... So if you take out the injector pump make sure you take out the shaft with it... For all the extra work and the shaft, they charged me $42... Cheap at twice the price... HTH Sea Ya Larry NYC 84 35FCSB ----- Original Message ----

I traced the leak to the fuel pump on the geny. There must be positive fuel pressure, because the leak developed with the generator off! I'm not sure how much fuel I lost, but I plugged the line, and have not used the generator since. I actually bought a little Honda 2,000 watt generator that I have been using to charge up the batteries - it even heats the water in my hot water heater. And it hardly uses any fuel! I'm hoping to replace the Perkins/Kohler fuel pump in the next few weeks. I'm driving my coach to Punxsutawney, PA for Ground Hogs' Day. I contacted Nixon Power Systems and provided them with the numbers on the Geny. However, they are still having trouble identifying what generator I have. Might anybody know the part #s for the Perkins/Kohler fuel pump? Also, might anybody know where I could get a copy of an owners or parts manual for the geny? I bought my coach with a full box of Bluebird documents, however, it included nothing for the generator. Thanks everyone! Anybody else going to Punxsutawney?
