12V dies when starter removed?
Hey Shane - That sounds pretty definitive and explains our experience. We're supposed to have the new starter tomorrow so I'll just wait for that. We've got 110 and brought in some lights for tonight, so we're fine. Thank you very much!

Greg,

In its original configuration, all 12V circuits on the '85 PT40's were

supplied via the stud on the starter. Some, including myself, have

installed another supply line from the battery bank to the charger

compartment, where most of the 12V distribution takes place, and

bypassed this stud. You will probably have to reinstall the starter or

install the bypass cable (4/0 min. size) to get around the stud and

power the coach circuits.

In so doing, I turned off the 12V system via the under-dash switch,

then disconnected the batteries so there was no chance of shock in

removing the starter. Reconnected the batteries, turned the dash

switch back on, and... nothing. The inverter is still seeing the

batteries and charging them, but none of the 12V systems have any

juice. Is there something else I was supposed to do? Will 12V come

magically back when the starter is replaced? Any other ideas?
