Review: Steer Safe steering stabilizer
While in the big tent at Q I noticed the Steer Safe booth. I have had
this device on 2 previous motorhomes and was planning a trip to
Deming for an install. They had a crew doing installation at your
site and it was less costly at Q than at the factory. They came to
the SWBB nesting area and did the install very quickly. I hada 560
mile trip back to Mexico on both I-10 and Mexico 15. I-10 to Tucson
was not much of a test as it is a very good road. I did notice that
the passing trucks did not cause me to correct! And those 18 wheelers
were flying compared to my 62 to 65 mph. Mexico 15 is a typical
Mexican highway. The term Mexican road builder is a true oxymoron.
Parts of the road are patched at a higher level than the rest of the
road, but only 5 feet in width is patched. There is no camber to the
roads . They pitch all over the place. Then there are the huge pot
holes and no shoulders. My Bird has those really bad Good Year
G159's. They do not handle well. On bad roads I was constantly
correcting and fighting to keep between the white lines. The Steer
Safe did not turn my Bord into a Ferrari but there was a big
improvement. Stayed straight without any effort. And of course in
case of blowout my unit would stay on the road! I would highly
recommend this device to any Bird owner. Cost was under $400
including tax, installed.
