Bird of the Week Front Page Pictures Wanted
Curt,
Yes, we could always use group or individual shots. But to be honest, I have been cautious about third party submissions over privacy issues. We have actually had people complain about their privacy when we ask them to sign their posts on the members-only forum! When I get the picture direct from the owner(s), then I know they have released it for publication on the Internet. Maybe I am too cautious in today's litigious society. I already spend too much time with lawyers! Another problem with getting pictures from third parties is that you may or may not get the owner's names correct, the year model of the Bird and any unique features. Like last week's Bird where it was the *original* owner who had logged 206,000 miles. That was neat info to add to the caption. A few weeks ago, I got a submission from someone I never heard of before, with a picture and a note saying 'we love our Bird' and no signature of any kind. I responded looking for info but never got a reply. To me, that is an unusable picture without some content. I could cut and paste random pictures from dealer sites if that's all we wanted to show. In any event, yes, if I can get names, year/model info, and if the picture is already public info on the SWBB site, then we can use them.
