Steerable Tag Axles
If the tires have some miles on them and they compare with the drive
set of a same age, the axle probably has no issue. If you ever wanted to challange the benifit of a caster tag, have someone turn a tight circle while driving your fixed tag bus and watch the tires at the two rear axles. On gravel, the scuffing is aggressive. I think the major reason to have a caster axle is so you can pivot off the drive and make tighter turns. Do the steerable/caster tags have a tierod? This is one of those issues that really depends on what the cost of the 'bird in question is and how much hassle and expense is involved if you need to do something about the problem. > > > Pete Masterson > '95 Blue Bird Wanderlodge WBDA 42 > El Sobrante CA > aeonix1@... > > On Mar 29, 2008, at 7:27 AM, Mike Hohnstein wrote: > > I see'em on concrete trucks all the time. I also remember seeing something about them being problematic. Is this an undesirable feature?
