Diesel Fuel question?

I was out of the country for over a year. I was told by a trucker that
my fuel looses its lubrication value from sitting too long. It has
been run every two or three months for a couple of hours. It started
up immediately when I got back. If this situation is true is there
some type of additive that I should add to the fuel.
