Entry Door Latch/Handle
Gene,
I don't think any thieves would not know that most doors can be 'jimmied.' The exact same thing happened to my deadbolt latch. It was broken and the handle simply turned. It took several scrapes on the deadbolt but they finally got it retracted enough to open the door. I ordered a replacement deadbolt from BB because it needed to be long enough. It was actually adjustable...cost about$35 from BB. The only problem was the crankshaft was too short. I used the old crankshaft and the new deadbolt. The key to avoid breakage is to keep the deadbolt well lubed so it retracts easily. If you slam the door with the deadbolt sticking out it can weaken and break it. BradBarton00LXiDFW bbartonwx@...
