air chamber
the air chamber with and without a spring parking brake are
relativly inexpensive, under $100 each. a rubber diaphragm in the chamber is the wear part. folks neglect to test the park brake diaphragm and 'parkbrake hold off lines' for leaks. To Test: Build pressure, chock tires, release park brake, rebuild pressure (20 seconds) then shut the bus down and listen for leaks. if the leak down time is quicker than leakdown with park brake on, you have an issue. here is a good trouble shooting guide for air brakes http://bepco.biz/AirBrakeCat/10-14.pdf When you replace hoses, many of the ends are reusable. rubber hoses fail inside and out. whenever application possible, plastic is an upgrade. Plastic air line is tough stuff. Remember to block up the frame before poking around under a bus that is held up by air bags.
