Curt,

Reading your post brought back some long ago memories.

Back in 1963to65 I was with the 2nd. Armored Div. at Ft. Hood, Texas. In 1964 they moved about 100,000 men to the area around Needles &Blythe, Ca. and Parker, Az.for hot weather War Games. I was attached to 2nd Armored Division Headquarters to set up and maintain land line communications. We spent a couple months there. Had some great times on the river. One weekend just above Parker Dam the LA Boat Club was there and had boat races. Never seen boats run so fast. We werealso good about closing some of the local bars. I wouldn't be surprised if we have another Birder who was there.

Thank you for your reply. I should be over there the week of May 25. I'll print out your information and have it with me. Will plan to stop by. We have a home about 4 miles north of the bridge, AZ side of the river. It always needs attention, and what an excuse to be over there and play on the river.
