Gen batt charging circuit diode

This ACRis it an electronic device, or is itmechanical?

Yes, I did install one on my '78. It is nice to have a visual
indication that things are working, and the genie does seem to crank
faster. I destroyed my original generator battery when I forgot to
open the disconnect switch. The old diode or whatever let it drain
to zero. The new ACR should prevent such mishaps as well.
