It's only 30 years old!
Michael,
There is a sending unit driven from the camshaft. Most Tachs are adjustable, in fact that adjustment is usually where I find the problems. I have the dash out of our BB right now doing some other work so I will look at the tach tomorrow and see how it is set. I got a replacement sending unit from Teleflex a few years ago and it worked with our existing tach so I am sure that they make a tach that will work with it. If you have a oscilloscope or a digital meter that will display frequency you can use it to check the sending unit by connecting it to the signal leads at the tach location.

Thanx for the advice Chuck. However, I have an empty hole in the dash so I'm not sure what happened to the original? When I look at the marine tachs they are mentioning "number of poles". Any idea how our sending units are setup on the 3208's? Michael --- In "WanderlodgeForum%40yahoogroups.com", "Chuck Wheeler" > > Mike, > I you like to tinker I have repaired two BB tachometers.
