Heated floors
Kurt (and others)
I recently installed the "Warm Tiles" with the FTS-1 Time of Day thermostat. They are wired through my inverter and use only about 12 amps DC when they energize (about as much as a 120 watt bulb). Of course when I'm parked at a campground or at home, they run off the shorepower. It is amazing how warm the floor will get- I usually have the thermostat set for 85 degrees from 5AM to 10AM and then scale it back to 70 during the day. It will ramp back up to 85 from 8 to 10 PM and then power back overnight. 85 is a little warm for some, but I like a nice toasty floor in the morning. You have to remove the existing tile or laminate floor and get back down to the plywood subfloor. Then you attach the heat tape in a serpentine grid fashion, encapsulate it in a concrete/thinset base and once that dries- you're ready to lay tile. It will add about 1/4 to 3/8 inch to the existing floor- much the same as a carpet pad.
