Going to get coach
One other thing about engine oil temperature is the oil temperature on my coach is measured at the top of the oil filter housing attached to the engine near the engine oil cooler. I plan to investigate the oil flow through the galley's but now believe the hottest oil is measured at the filter, then goes to the oil cooler which is cooled by radiator water through a heat exchanger then goes to the oil pan. Accordingly, checking the gauge against a heat gun should be accomplished at the engine oil filter housing vs.the oil pan. I agree an oil temp sensor for purposes of automatic shut down would be good but do not know if DDEC II has that capability.

Correct - the DDECII does not output engine oil temp, or it would be simple to rig an alarm with VMSPC when it reached some temp.

I do have an analog oil temp gauge, but it runs pretty high all of the time - I'm not sure I would notice unless it *really* went high!
