I believe all of the DD 2 cycle engines, series 53, 71, and 92's have roots blowers (or superchargers) whether belt or mechanically driven, as they won't run na. Turbo chargers are in addition to that blower to increase hp ratings and some of those turbo'd gain further boost with after cooling. Most motorhomes employ inline configurations with the transmission bolted up directly to the engine, both ahead of the driveline to the drive axle. (or behind dependent on view of a pusher) Exceptions could be "converted buses". However all Birds I'm familiar with have the engines configured to inline. I hope this covers your basic questions and if not, e-mail me direct for further elaboration. |
