Garmin vs Magellan
Indeed ... part of my frustration with updating my Magellan is that I
had to borrow a friend's PC to do it (as I have an all-Mac household). To make matters worse, the printed material doesn't mention that you need an "authorization number" off the invoice to proceed with the update installation. I had to drive 35 miles round trip to go back home to get the #$%@ invoice when the program asked for the data. (Of course, the Magellan (no) support line couldn't help.) The update procedure itself, takes a couple of hours -- and naturally, it stops a couple of times to ask a question. For a lengthy upgrade procedure, you'd think they'd be smart enough to program it to ask all the questions up front so you can leave it unattended while it works.
