Garmin vs Magellan
Indeed ... part of my frustration with updating my Magellan is that I
had to borrow a friend's PC to do it (as I have an all-Mac
household). To make matters worse, the printed material doesn't
mention that you need an "authorization number" off the invoice to
proceed with the update installation. I had to drive 35 miles round
trip to go back home to get the #$%@ invoice when the program asked
for the data. (Of course, the Magellan (no) support line couldn't
help.) The update procedure itself, takes a couple of hours -- and
naturally, it stops a couple of times to ask a question. For a
lengthy upgrade procedure, you'd think they'd be smart enough to
program it to ask all the questions up front so you can leave it
unattended while it works.
