Woody, Most all the tech manuals a mfg publish for products have
assumptions its audiance is their factory trained techs. I find the
best manuals and howto's are written by the vendors for the military
re: products they sold them. Some are funny with directions
like "lift the hood covering engine" on a how to to check oil, but
I rather the author have no assumptions of my mechanical ability.

There is a site listing many of these manuals for sale and copy. You
can find stuff via the sites structure of classifications and sub
catagories but that sucks and way much good info is hidden . Since
you live in a state above sea level I'll give you this trick.

Go to google
type search terms then "site:tpub.com" no space between site : and
domain.

ie
allison transmission site:tpub.com
