Finished smog test on our rigs

  • o4Cat 10wheeler>1%
  • 02Cummins Bobtail 1%
  • 94 Wanderlodge 26.8%
  • 92Cummins 10wheeler >1%
  • 89Cat 10 wheeler 28%
  • [/list]

Testing cost $60.00 per unit and took 15 min each truck.1994 allowance is 35%. I asked the independent tech what it takes to fail and he hasfound few who schedule a test fail for smoke, mostly they need badges. He further explained that rigs tagged road side for smoke failure tend to be due to turbo ,aftercooler , injector , computer, rack, and most of all airfilters. He said 4 out of ten units need reissue smog lables due to paint cover and part changes ( rocker covers)

The independent tester I used has testedmotorhomes pickup trucks and diesel cars several were class c duramax units clearing up smoke fix-it-tickets.(Don call an independ testerfor your research question). A friend with 35 rigs had a guniterig pulled over ina recentCarb sting . That truckrecieved a $600 fine roadside. Non compliance promptedCARB to review his entire fleet records to access an additional fine of $20,400.00

The Wanderlodge was not issued a cert today because the Fed smog lable was notreadable (Rocker cover) . Valley Detroit (951-681-9283) will order from detroitDiesel and affix a new badge ($110 including labor). VallyD required I fax copy of vin engine numberand my registration. CARB requires this origional sticker (or certified reissue) on every vehicle gas or diesel. With my bus in compliance and enrolled in the Periodic Smoke inspection program PSIP I can still get a ticket for excessive visual smoke. the cert will be bargining power roadside.I know for a fact quoting ;statute ;law and ;code get you more issues and a court date. Thepolitical system in Mexico and Chicago where you can buy yourself out of tickets and into office are sounding cost effective.
