Ryan,

I would think that if the water can seep into the tank, then the
oders can "seep" out. This could possibly be the source of the oders
you keep smelling. Either try to replace the seal or the toilet. I
have not been following very closely. I don't know if a few hours
for the water to leak out would equate to the potential oders you are
encountering.
