genset voltage meter on dash
Hi Rosemary,
It was great meeting you and "mom" at the Q Rally. We are missing the big fires and warm weather here in the Northeast. I used to have the same problem with the genny battery- turns out that it was the isolating diode that BBird used in most of the mid-80's coaches that failed. Yours is probably near the battery bank under the driver's seat. It will not allow voltage to flow back to the genset battery when the chargers are on. You will have to most likely replace it with a new battery isolator or better yet, a Battery Link ACR from Blue Sea Systems. This should allow the genny battery to get a much better charge and keep you from having to replace it every few years. If you can not do the job yourself, I'm sure that a camping world could install a new isolator for you. If you plan to attend any rallies out east this spring or are going to the one in OshKosh, I'd be glad to install one for you.
