John,
The sporlan is easy to clean. Get a small rag to push into the opening to stop water flow. After removing the top of the valve you inset that rag. Carefully clean the diaphram and parts. I find it's usually the diaphram that has the crud on it. Remove the rag, and re-assemble the valve the same way as it cam apart. Should take all of 15 minutes. I find the Water Pump should be OFF when filling the water tank.
