Rebuilld Flourescent Lights

There are led strips that can be cut in groups of 3 or 4 to work on
12Volts, $5-6 a foot

Has anyone tried these?
If they work it would be huge power and battery savings, around 1 watt
vs. 15watts and it's about the price of a replacement bulb.
