Blue Bird Shampoo and Conditioner
I've been getting my Bird ready for a trip to Rhode Island
and just greased the front end, steering and brakes. My new Koni front shocks arrived yesterday and I adjusted them all the way to the firmest and backed them off one position (there are 5 total). After work last night, I pulled the nose of the Bird into the shop and set about changing the front shocks. The shock nuts require an inch and a half socket, in case anyone needs to know. ;o) The nuts came loose easily and I used a pry bar to weasel the old shocks off and they came without much of a fight. I lubed the shock studs with synthetic brake lube to make the Konis come off easier in the future. It took a little effort to get the Konis on, but they surrendered in short order and assumed their rightful place. In the course of all this, I'm knocking little grease balls loose all over the place onto my pristine shop floor. Of course, then I crawl through them. I change clothes before I ever get under the Bird because of the dirt, grease and oil under it and change back as soon as I'm done. Clothes are only good for one trip under the bus, they can't be re-used the next day, they're just too dirty. Well, when finished, I realize I've had the back of my head in a bunch of grease balls... I touch the back of my head and it's quite gritty. Yuk. I used GoJo hand cleaner on my hair to get it out. It did a nice job, left a slight odor of oranges and a nice sheen to the hair. This will be now known as the "Blue Bird Shampoo and Conditioner". LOL Oh, one more note--next time, work under coach first, grease it second. :o) I haven't driven it yet, I was still too dirty.
