Allison HTB741 fluid change

Pete, the local Allison shop quoted $571
for drain and fill with filter. I asked if it included any service
besides the drain and fill and he said no. It seems a little high to me but
what do you think?

There are
filters inside the 'pan' of the transmission that need to be replaced. If your
transmission is like mine, the filters come in two sizes. A longer lasting
version and a smaller (cheaper) version. Since we'll not be putting the miles
on like a transit bus, it's best to get the cheaper small size as you'll
"time out" before you "mile out" ...

You can probably do it yourself, but personally, I prefer to let an
experienced technician in a suitably qualified shop do the work as they have
the lift or pit that makes access easier.
