Kurt,
Below is the information that I saved, written by Rob Robinson.

I rewrote the
procedures that I use for upgrading roof screws. Hopes this helps
All the Wanderlodge roofs that I have done have been late models (1993 on up).
In all cases each had the corrugated aluminium walkway material secured to the
roof with self-tapping üââ¬Â tech screws. After several jobs I have modified my
original methods slightly but nothing significant. I remove the tech screws a
row at a time (3 or 4 screws). I replace them with hex head SS one-inch lag
screws. The major size SS lag screw I use is a 5/16ââ¬Â. In some cases where the
hole may have become enlarged or I screwed up and over torque I would use a
3/8ââ¬Â SS lag screw. To do a complete job you will need between 150 and 200 5/16ââ¬Â
SS lag screws. I would purchase an additional 20 or 30 of the larger 3/8ââ¬Â SS
lag screws to cover screw-ups and enlarged holes. Originally I would inject
each hole with polyurethane prior to screw insertion, but now I use windshield
butyl. This is the black stuff you can buy in rope form. I just pull off a
small piece and wind it on the threads of each lag screw. It does take more
time but in my opinion it provides a better and more flexible sealant and is
worth the effort. Also, in all the jobs I have done I have replaced the tech
screws that are found in the goat rail and itââ¬â¢s securing to the roof. The only
difference between the goat rail and the walkway upgrade is washers. Wherever a
lag screw contacts the goat rail I put a washer between it and the aluminium of
the goat rail. I now use power tools to remove and install but originally
started out with hand tools. I would do a few with hand tools, especially the
install, until I am familiar with the feel of the relatively thin roof steel.
Truth be known I only use a power tool to install the lag screws about half way
and finish the job by hand. I do use a power tool for removal.

Curt, Greg, et al, several months ago I recall you guys discussing redoing all the bolts that hold down everything on the roof, I seem to remember at a rally ???? Any way you guys described a Stainless fastener that is inserted into the newly drilled holes, then new bolts were screwed into the inserts. WOULD YA'LL REFRESH MY MEMORIE. I can't find the old posts. My coach was a Florida Coach and it's starting to show especially on the old roof hardware.
