Syn. oil has done well for me, be sure it is a diesel oil. Not
necessary, just extra protection.

No need to release fuel pressure, there is no pressure with the engine
not running.

Priming is fairly simple, there is a handle on the fuel pump to prime
manually (pump up-down). I have always just loosened the line out of
the fuel supply pump on the engine, primed until no bubbles there, have
never had to use the procedure in the manual to prime further.
