Engine water temperature gauge is down
Check the ground connections. This is the most common source of problems. There will be a ground at the gauge and at the sensor. If the sensor ground is to the engine block, then ensure that the ground strap between the engine and the frame is tight and free of corrosion.
99% of electrical problems of this type are ground problems. The wires are usually not likely to be damaged (outside of a few inches near the gauge or the sensor where they're exposed).
