A few more repairs completed
Well, I finally got the tie rods replaced. It appeared the old tie rods were
original. The boots were gone completely and the tie rods couldn't be
disconnected from the tube due to rust. So, I ended up buying the whole piece
that stretches between the two tires. It was about $350 plus labor. But, I
suppose that's cheap when it comes to safety and peace of mind. I also had the
rear seal replaced on the tag axle hub. It was leaking and had soaked the drum
and ruined the brake shoes on that side.

I believe that's the last of the problems for now. I'll be hitting the road in
a few weeks en route to Southern Oregon. We have decided to stick to 101 vice
getting on I-5. The I-5 corridor from Southern California to Northern
California is rather boring - 101 will give us some scenery and great places to
stop and eat lunch with a view!
