It may be just the opposite problem Rich, The book calls for 16 quarts and after we put in four gallons it was still low at the stick so we put in two more quarts. The allison shop said to drive it until the fluid got hot, then find a level spot and check it again. If the level is ok then bring it to their shop and they will read the codes ($105 plus tax minimum charge). If it is too full hot just drain some out.

Dan, Have you checked the fluid level? It wouldn't be the first time a shop underfilled one. I had it happen to me when we had a '90 Bird. The Wanderlodge dealer left it 7 quarts low.
