Owner's Manual, it must be done to circulate the fluids in the tranny.

anyway to losen up "old bones". I check tires, my Allison tranny fluid
and let the dog pee. Just get in the little bugger crank it up let it
run for 2-3 minutes, then go through the shifting sequence: P,R,N,D,2,1
then back to D, then to N, shut the engine down and turn the ignition
key to ACC and drive away.
