genset maintenance
tom, there is a world of difference between a mack or cat engine and a honda
engine.the new car gas engines have tighter tolerances and a very thin ring
package, low drag rings.this type of engine needs the 5-20 weight oils to
properly lube the valves and the ring package.they were built to run the thin
oils, thicker oils in these newer engines will lead to premature engine
failure...i'm sure you knew that..randydupree93wb

Someone made a comment about only using 5W-30 oils in Honda Odysseys
because of the sulfur content.
http://www.heavydutytrucking.com/2003/05/092b0305.asp. I chose not to use
these light weight oils. They are touted as the long fuel mileage oils but
I would rather use an oil that protects my engine and not be so thin it can
protect the engine in high mileage driving. There have been numerous tests
done on engine oils and the straight 30 weight oils stay consistent far
longer then any multi weight oil. I believe that is why Mobil Super 1300
was produced. If it meets the Cat and Mack stringent requirements for
diesels its good enough for my cars. As for the Catalytic converters arent
they covered by Federal Law?
